The track is the first to be taken from the band's forthcoming third album

The Wombats have revealed a brand new track titled ‘Your Body Is A Weapon’ – listen to it above.

The single is the first new material from the Liverpool trio since the release of their second album, 2011’s ‘ The Wombats present… This Modern Glitch’. It was produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Taking Back Sunday) at Barefoot Studios in Los Angeles, where the band will now return to record their forthcoming third album.

Frontman Matthew Murphy told NME that the track was written about a paparazzi he saw trying to shoot Harry Styles outside a party: “The song is loosely based on a ‘pap’ I witnessed outside a Brit awards after party, he was taking a picture of Conor Styles or whoever but looked thoroughly disinterested. It led me to feel slightly sorry for him…”

He added: “We recorded the song in Los Angeles with Eric Valentine, over the course of 10 days in July. It was an easy track to record, although a few lyric changes were made to make it sound slightly less ‘creepy’. At the end of the session, Eric said ‘I’m really happy with how this has turned out, there is a quality to the lower-mid range that i have been searching for for years, and i think i’ve got it!’ – We have absolutely no idea what this means.”

The Wombats releaed their debut album ‘The Wombats Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’ in 2007.
