thaudience are currently without a record deal after parting with Mercury Records.

The band’s main songwriter, Billy Reeves, had already left the band and they had not released any new material since their debut album, ‘theaudience’, came out in August 1998.

The band issued a statement saying: “theaudience have recently parted compay with Mercury Records. Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor is currently in talks with various other companies regarding options for the future.”

A spokesperson confirmed that Ellis-Bextor had already begun writing new material with the remainder of the band, but said they would not be working with Reeves.
