The new production of Harold Pinter's 'Old Times' opens in New York next month
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke recently revealed he was composing the music for an upcoming play on Broadway, New York.
The Roundabout Theatre Company have now revealed a preview trailer for the play, a new production of Harold Pinter’s Old Times. Yorke’s new music features in the short clip.
A press release describes the play as an “unsettling drama of desire and blurred realities.”
Listen to the new instrumental work by Yorke below:
Old Times stars Clive Owen, Eve Best and Kelly Reilly and is directed by Douglas Hodge. It will run at American Airlines Theatre from October 6 through to November 29, presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company.
Speaking of Yorke’s new score, Douglas Hodge commented:
“The music Thom has written for Old Times gives an immediacy and a ‘now‐ness’ to the show. The play itself is about memory and love — Thom’s music works backwards and forwards and plays with time and repetition in the same way Pinter does. In true Thom Yorke‐style, the music is epic, heartbreaking, irresistible, and complex. I’m hopeful this collaboration will result in a new kind of theatergoer coming to our show.”
Yorke added, “It’s been a pleasure working with Doug on my first stage production. I’ve enjoyed exploring through music the script’s themes of love and memory as well as Pinter’s rhythms, twists and turns.”
Earlier this week, Yorke revealed a new song titled ‘Villain’ during New York Fashion week.
The show was heard during Rag & Bone’s latest runway show. Yorke has worked with the fashion label before, providing music for them in both 2011 and 2013. ‘Villain’ featured in their SS16 collection at New York Fashion Week.
‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’, Thom Yorke’s second solo album, was released in 2014. ‘Villain’ marks his first new release since that record.
