Nelly Furtado, Timbaland sued for plagiarism

Finnish label says pair borrowed heavily from song

A lawsuit has been filed against Nelly Furtado and Timbaland for allegedly copying a song composed by Finnish composer Janne Suni for their track ‘Do It’.

Suni won first place at the Assembly 2000 Old Skool Music Competition in the year 2000 for the track, which is called ‘Acidjazzed Evening’.

The suit, filed in the Miami-Dade Division of the US District Court Southern District of Florida, says that Timbaland and Furtado used the “original and central identifying melodic, harmonic and rhythmic components” of the track, which appeared as ‘Do It’ on Furtado’s 2006 album ‘Loose’, reports allhiphop.com.

Timbaland is currently gearing up for the release of his forthcoming album ‘Shock Value 2’ set to come out later this year via Interscope Records.
