Timbaland makes surprise guest appearance at London festival

Hot Chip's Joe Goddard also DJs at Docklands bash

Timbaland headlined a special festival on a farm in London last night (June 8).

The star made a surprise guest appearance at the Mini Countryman Open Air event, which was held near Docklands to celebrate the launch of the new Mini Countryman car.

The event saw fans ferried across the Thames to a secret location for the bash which saw the rapper arrive onstage holding his baby daughter during US singer-songwriter Michelle Branch‘s short set. He introduced ‘Getaway’, a new track which he produced with the singer for the launch of the new vehicle.

He then teamed up with his own DJ Freestyle for a seven-song set which dipped into his 2007 album ‘Shock Value’ and 2009 follow-up ‘Shock Value II’.

Kicking off his performance, the rapper joked: “I am in my favourite place, London. Let’s get the sheep and the cows popping,” before he launched into chart topper ‘The Way I Are’.

In between rapping and beat boxing over Justin Timberlake‘s Number One hit ‘SexyBack’, Nirvana‘s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and Eurythmics‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’, video projections of Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado and Timberlake were used to back up his hits.

Timbaland played:

‘The Way I Are’
‘Promiscuous’
‘Morning After Dark’
‘Tomorrow In The Bottle’
‘Carry Out’
‘If We Ever Meet Again’
‘Say Something’

Earlier, Hot Chip‘s Joe Goddard spun the turntables for a short DJ set followed by a 30 minute performance from James Yuill, which included single ‘No Surprise’ and ‘Give You Away’.
