Tove Lo unveils NSFW video for new remix of ‘Bitches’ featuring Charli XCX, ALMA, Icona Pop and Elliphant

"We felt like Spice Girls 2018"

Tove Lo has shared the NSFW video for new single ‘Bitches’ featuring Charli XCX, ALMA, Icona Pop and Elliphant.

The Swedish star released her acclaimed second and third albums ‘Lady Wood‘ and ‘Blue Lips‘ in quick succession in 2016 and 2017. Now, a new mix from the latter album has arrived – with the video for ‘Bitches’ starring Broad City’s Paul W. Downs and actress Jessy Hodges as a couple who go to the supergroup for training on how to spice up their sex life.

The group apply the couple with BDSM accessories, before educating them about various sex tips before they demonstrate what they’ve learned at the end while they dance around them (as well as putting them in a cage to break for sushi).

“Tove is one of our best friends and when she reached out it was a no brainer,” said Icona Pop a statement. “Everyone on this track is so different. All are boss ladies in our own way. Together we felt like Spice Girls 2018 on set.”

Taking to Twitter, Tove Lo shared the artwork for her new single, along with a series of teasers.

Speaking to NME about her approach to expressing sexuality through her music, Tove Lo said: “I choose to rub it in people’s faces even more. If you look at the record title, the artwork – it’s obviously done as a reaction to reactions. For me, it’s very artistic rather than just a picture of my ass. Obviously, that’s going to upset a lot of people – ‘why does she have to do that?’ This feels good to me. I’m not doing it because someone’s telling me not to, but I feel like ‘oh, come on’.”

She added: “I’ve spent so much of my life creating songs and things so personal and deep. It’s about questioning everything in life. Yes, there’s sex and drugs in there, but there’s definitely a depth to it. I’m not just a random party girl. That’s what pisses me off.”

Meanwhile, rising star ALMA also spoke to NME about her collaborators for her upcoming debut album.

“I work with Charli XCX, and there’s a songwriter whose executive producer on the album called Justin Tranter,” she said. “I’ve also been working with producers like Bloodpop and Andrew Wyatt. Hopefully I get to work with Lykke Li soon. I met her recently and we talked about it, but you never know.

“Tove Lo too, I’ve been working with the best people.”
