TRICKY, ELVIS COSTELLO, BRETT ANDERSON and PINK FLOYD‘s DAVID GILMOUR are all confirmed to appear at this year’s MELTDOWN FESTIVAL in LONDON.
This year’s event takes place at the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall between June 7 and 27, and is curated by Soft Machine founder Robert Wyatt.
Of the events confirmed so far, Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour will play his first solo gig in London for over ten years, supported by Sparklehorse (June 22). The following evening (June 23) at the Festival Hall, Tricky is confirmed to appear, with special guest Saul Williams.
Other highlights include The Residents on June 9, a reformed The Raincoats supported by Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci (June 10), and Elvis Costello, who directed Meltdown himself in 1995, performing on June 26, supported by Ivor Cutler.
Costello will also perform in a tribute to Robert Wyatt at the ‘Soup Songs’ event, which will also feature songs from Annie Whitehead and Suede vocalist Brett Anderson, among others.
