Trumpets and bangers – Slaves are at work on their next album

Slaves have returned to the studio to record their hotly-anticipated third album – and it looks like fans can expect trumpets and ‘bangers’.

The punk duo revealed last month that they had started to record the follow up to 2016’s acclaimed ‘Take Control’. The pair haven’t revealed what can be expected from their new music, but have been sharing clues on their Instagram pages.

The band shared a photo of a chart on Instagram Stories, which appears to show that they would be recording 16 songs – 10 of which they have worked on so far. The names of the tracks have been cut off, but you can spot the words ‘wish’ and ‘sick’ in the far left common. In it the additional notes, one track is simply labelled as a ‘banger’.

On Monday, Isaac Holman posted two short videos on his Instagram story of fellow bandmate Laurie Vinent playing the trumpet. Yesterday, a video was posted of the band using an electric razor over the strings of an electric guitar hinting at more experimentation on the album. There’s also this video of Isaac growing frustrated with a particularly tricky drumline.

Laurie also shared photos of filming equipment and Kodak Super 8 Film with ‘ALBUM 3 THE MAKING OF’ written on it, suggesting that the band are heavily documenting the recording process.

Last year saw Slaves launch their own record label ‘Girl Fight’ by unveiling a new track from their first signing, Lady Bird.

Slaves meanwhile, have also been confirmed to support Foo Fighters at Wembley as part of their upcoming ‘Concrete And Gold’ world tour. After a busy summer of festivals in the US and Europe, the band will return to the UK to perform at Reading & Leeds Festival – where it is hoped they will air new material.
