Karen Gillan and Paul ‘Pee-Wee Herman’ Reubens star in TV On The Radio’s ‘Happy Idiot’ video – watch

US band's video tells the story of a racing driver suffering from a mental breakdown

Actors Karen Gillan and Paul Reubens appear in the video for TV On The Radio‘s new single ‘Happy Idiot’, the first from forthcoming album ‘Seeds’.

The video sees Reubens, best known for playing Pee-wee Herman, as a racing driver suffering a mental breakdown. Doctor Who and Guardians Of The Galaxy star Gillan, meanwhile, appears as a figment of his increasingly troubled mind. The video was revealed via Funny Or Die.

In a statement accompanying the video, TV On The Radio frontman Tune Adebimpe said: “It was really fun to do, love how it came out. I think our fans will like it. I hope so. The cool ones will anyway. The rest can suck it. I don’t exactly know what ‘it’ is. But they can find it. And they can suck it.”

Set for an autumn release, ‘Seeds’ will be the band’s fifth studio album and first since ‘Nine Types Of Light’, which was released in 2011.

‘Seeds’ will also be the New York group’s first album since the death of bass player Gerard Smith, who was diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after finishing work on ‘Nine Types Of Light’.

In April 2013, TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe confirmed the band had returned to the studio and were working on new material. They went on to unveil new track ‘Mercy’ that July.
