The singer played 'Ziggy Stardust', 'Suffragette City' and 'Queen Bitch'

Ty Segall performed a medley of David Bowie songs at a gig in Chicago to honour the city’s David Bowie Day celebrations – watch fan-filmed footage of it below.

The singer interrupted his performance at Chicago’s Thalia Hall earlier this week (September 23) to perform ‘Ziggy Stardust’, ‘Suffragette City’ and ‘Queen Bitch’.

Earlier this month, Chicago’s mayor, Rahm Emanuel, declared that
September 23 was declared David Bowie Day
to coincide with the opening of the ‘David Bowie Is…’ exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. The career retrospective exhibition previously showed at London’s V&A Museum last year.

In a statement the Chicago mayor says that: “Bowie has impacted and inspired millions of fans across the globe for more than 50 years”. It goes on to state that the singer’s “remarkable half-century career has bridged cultures and faiths while both transcending and fortifying the music, art, fashion & design, and theatrical canons.”

Ty Segall will come to the UK for a trio of shows next month.

He will play:

Manchester Gorilla (November 10)
Leeds Brudenell Social Club (11)
London Electric Ballroom (12)
