Tyler, The Creator to show fashion crowd ‘a different world’ with runway debut

Golf Wang will be represented at Made LA

Tyler, The Creator is to make his runway debut as a designer at an upcoming fashion event in Los Angeles.

The Odd Future rapper and his Golf Wang label will be represented at Made LA, a new week of fashion shows held in June. Held at LA Live’s Event Deck space, the two-day event looks to “bridge the worlds of fashion, music, art, and celebrity.”

Tyler’s Golf Wang event is described as “a presentation and experience” and will take place on June 11. Vogue describes his clothes as “simple, easy-to-wear pieces—think tees, coach’s jackets, and shorts—printed in wild hues with tongue-in-cheek designs.”

Speaking about Golf Wang, he said: “I just make whatever clothes I want to wear for the next five months and then run that. I don’t really put deep, intricate thought into it—it’s more like a feeling.”

“I just figured, Why not? Why not do something different? Not everybody in the upper fashion world is wearing all-black Saint Laurent pieces and is super pretentious. I want to show them a different world.”

It’s not clear whether the Golf Wang Anti-Donald Trump T-Shirt will be part of the Made show. The ‘Adolf Drumpf’ shirts, which show Trump complete with a Hitler moustache, were made available earlier this month.

Tyler, who is rumoured to be appearing on Kanye West’s next album ‘Turbo Grafx 16’, has run into Trump in the past and famously photobombed with business mogul turned would be President in 2013 after meeting backstage at Jimmy Fallon’s chat show.
