Spanish fan site claims to have heard new material from outside French property
A U2 fan has claimed to have recorded audio of a new song by the band being played by Bono from inside the frontman’s beach house in France.
The group are working on their next studio album and have been recording with producers including Danger Mouse in recent months. A spokesperson for U2 recently denied that the band have pushed back the release date of their 13th studio album to 2015.
According to @U2 a message posted on Spanish fansite U2Valencia.com contains audio reported to have been recorded outside Bono’s beach house in the south of France. The fansite claims that new track ‘Song For Someone’ is audible in the five-minute clip and was recorded as Bono played the song loudly while at home. It is reported that the recording was made on Monday (June 30).
In addition to a new U2 album, Bono and The Edge are also working with Once director John Carney on a new musical film based on the film-maker’s childhood.
U2 won a Golden Globe earlier this year for their song ‘Ordinary Love’, taken from Nelson Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
