U2’s ‘Spider-Man’ musical reopens in New York after two-month break

Musical now features snippets of classic U2 songs

The U2-scored Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark musical reopened last night (May 12) in New York for its latest preview showing.

The musical, which is reportedly the most expensive in Broadway history with a cost so far of $70 million (£48 million), stopped showing audience previews in March. It was halted after a series of mishaps in early performances and scathing reviews from several prominent critics forced producers to order major changes to the show.

According to Hollywoodreporter.com the show re-opened fairly smoothly last night with only a few technical glitches.

The show, which has been scored by U2‘s Bono and The Edge, has added one new song and now also features snippets of classic U2 songs woven into the score including ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’ and ‘Beautiful Day’.

The musical is now scheduled to formally open on June 14 at New York‘s Foxwoods Theatre.
