STARS SHINE AT VH1 AWARDS

The rock heavyweights are confirmed for the LA extravaganza...

U2 are to join the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, CHRISTINA AGUILERA and BON JOVI performing at this year’s US MY VH1 MUSIC AWARDS.

The event takes place at the Shrine Auditorium in LA on November 30, and the VH1 website[url=]www.vh1.com, will be webcasting the event live from various locations in the arena – including from the red carpet, the live-truck, press room and the podium.

Among the nominations are Travis, who are up against the Spice Girls, David Gray, Robbie Williams and Tom Jones for the award ‘Best UK Act’, which will be voted for by US viewers of the music TV channel.

Voting also takes place through [url=]www.vh1.com/mymusic. David Gray is also nominated for the ‘Best Kept Secret’ award.

British artists nominated in other awards are Sting in three categories. The former Police frontman is up for ‘Man of the Year’; ‘Legend in Action’ and the bizarre ‘You Want Fries With That Album’ – for the use of his songs in advertising.

Other notable categories in the awards are ‘Your Song Kicked Ass But Was Played Too Damn Much’; ‘Double Threat (Musician’s-Actors); ‘Sexxxiest Video’ and ‘Pushing The Envelope Video’. More conventional categories such as ‘Song Of The Year’; ‘Group Of The Year’ and ‘Best Live Act’ are also included. All categories were suggested by viewers of VH1.

Voting is open up until the awards take place on Thursday November 30.
