The U2 frontman visited Canter's deli after his band's show in Los Angeles on Saturday night (May 30)
U2 frontman Bono reportedly visited Canter’s deli in Los Angeles on Saturday night (May 30), where he awarded a member of the waiting staff with a $150 (£98) tip.
The Irish band played the third of the band’s five-gig stint at LA’s Forum venue on Saturday, with Bono making a trip to the 24-hour Jewish delicatessen in West Hollywood after the show. Billboard reports that the frontman gave a waitress who had worked at the establishment for 50 years a tip of $150 for a meal that cost less than $20 (£13).
Billboard write: “The rocker asked his server to pick out his meal, which she did, bringing out a veritable mish-mash of classic Jewish deli fare including a corned beef reuben, French fries and onion rings. For desert: chocolate chip rugelach on the house.”
The band later wrote on their official website that the deli “proclaimed” their love of the US city.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Noel Gallagher and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong met at a U2 concert in San Diego.
The former Oasis musician attended the gig on May 19, describing the show at the time as a “psychedelic experience”. Speaking to the You Made It Weird podcast, Gallagher said: “I met Billie Joe the other night. I was sitting beside him at a U2 concert in San Diego. He was a very, very nice guy, I’ve got to say.”
