U2 FEEL VERTIGO FROM TOP OF CHART

But Eminem goes to number one on the albums after just two days on sale...

U2 have gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart today (November 14) with ‘Vertigo’ knocking Eminem off the perch after just a week on top.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the hip hop giant. Eminem has gone in at one on the album chart after just two days onsale.

The release of ‘Encore’ was brought forward to beat internet bootleggers and the attendant publicity has obviously not harmed sales.

Back on the singles chart, Blue score the second highest new entry with their farewell single ‘Curtain Falls’ entering at four. Australian songbird Delta Goodrem has the only other new entry on the top 10 entering at nine with ‘Out Of The Blue’.

A little lower down, V enter at 12 with ‘You Stood Up’, Dizzee Rascal enters at 14 with ‘Dream’, Eye Opener at 16 with ‘Hungry Eyes’, Nas finds a berth at 18 with ‘Bridging The Gap’, Steriogram score their first hit at 19 with ‘Walkie Talkie Man’ and Jamie Callum sees his take on ‘Everlasting Love’ chart at 20.

Twista, Mase and the Finn Brothers have the only other new entries on the top 40.

Back on the album chart, Eminem’s astonishing success means that Britney Spears hits collection can only enter at two, while Westlife’s morally bankrupt Rat Pack re-invention ‘Allow Us To Be Frank’ enters at three. Shania Twain’s greatest hits enters at six while the fantastically mental Daniel Bedingfield returns at eight with comeback album ‘Second First Impression’.
