STARING AT THE SCREEN

'Gangs Of New York' may or may not be released this year...

BONO is working on the soundtrack to the new MARTIN SCORSESE film, ‘GANGS OF NEW YORK’, according to reports on the Internet.

According to Italian satellite network, www.caltanet.it, Miramax chairman Harvey Weinstein has confirmed that the U2 singer will be working on the soundtrack. A spokeswoman for U2 was unable to confirm the story.

The film’s release date currently hangs in the balance, with studio chiefs unsure if a release date this year, making it eligible for March’s Oscars, will be possible. Scorsese, despite making landmark films such as ‘Raging Bull’ and ‘Taxi Driver’, has never won an Oscar.

‘Gangs Of New York’ charts the rise of Irish and Italian gangsters in New York, and features Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz.
