The Wombats pull in huge crowd at V Festival

Virgin tent is mobbed for Liverpool trio at Weston Park

Liverpool trio The Wombats attracted a huge crowd to the Virgin Mobile Union tent in Staffordshire this afternoon (August 19).

The band, who are set to hit the road on the 02 Presents NME Rock N Roll Riot Tour in September, kicked off a lively set with ‘Acapella’ before sparking mass sing-alongs for hit singles ‘Kill The Director’ and ‘Backfire At The Disco’.

As the rain continued to pour outside drummer Dan Haggis said to the crowd: “Can everyone give me a hell yeah?” before he added: “Shout louder and maybe the rain will hold off for 10 minutes.”

During the set, an inflatable guitar was thrown onstage which singer Matthew Murphy launched back into the fans midway through ‘Lost In The Post’.

The Wombats played:

‘Acapella’

‘Kill The Director’

‘Lost In The Post’

‘Patricia The Stripper’

‘Moving To New York’

‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’

‘Backfire At The Disco’
