Vampire Weekend member Baio unveils new solo track ‘Endless Rhythm’ – watch lyric video

The musician releases solo album 'The Names' in September

Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio has released a lyric video for a new song from his electronic solo album as Baio.

‘Endless Rhythm’ is lifted from Baio’s upcoming LP ‘The Names’, out September 18 on Glassnote. The full-length follows EPs ‘Sunburn’ and ‘Mira’, from 2012 and 2013 respectively. The song itself follows recent solo singles ‘Brainwash Yyrr Face’ and ‘Sister Of Pearl’.

Baio announced details of the solo LP in April. The record has been described by the artist himself as containing “[David] Bowie and [Bryan] Ferry-influenced pop songs and dumbsmart arena techno”.

Meanwhile, Diplo has revealed that he’s been working with Vampire Weekend’s frontman Ezra Koenig on new music.

Diplo was speaking to Rolling Stone when he divulged the information, saying: “I’ve done a lot of songs with Ezra Koenig, some really cool stuff that I hope people get to hear”.

He added: “We wrote a couple of things for another artist that might be huge records for the end of summer,” before hinting that “one of them started with a Vampire Weekend idea.”

On what it’s like to work with Koenig, Diplo continued: “He’s not traditional rock — he’s like me, a hodgepodge of styles and influences”.

Koenig recently confirmed that Vampire Weekend are “gearing up to start working on another album”.

The US group released their third album ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’ in 2013. Since then members of the band have pursued collaborative projects outside of the group, most notably Koenig working with Karen O and Major Lazer.

Speaking in a recent interview, the lead singer said a fourth Vampire Weekend album will happen, though an arrival date is some way off: “Right now we’re definitely gearing up to start working on another album but, we’re not in a zone of like getting in there everyday or anything. There have been discussions, of course there’s…in some ways, you know, we’re always working,” he said.

Koenig also suggested that older material that was deemed not right for previous albums could make its way onto album number four. “There are songs that are left over, not to diminish them, but songs that just weren’t quite right for the last album that I’m very excited about for the next album, so you know there’s little demos that I kind of listen to everyday.”
