Gregory Porter has become the only living male artist to have two albums in the top 20 simultaneously.
Two of Porter’s studio albums have charted in the Official Albums Chart Top 20 simultaneously with ‘Take Me To The Alley’ at Number 11 and ‘Liquid Spirit’ at Number18. Both albums were released on Decca Records.
Porter is the only living male artist this year to reach the feat, with the only other living artist gaining two spots on the Official Albums Chart Top 20 being Adele.

Porter recently performed for BBC Radio 2’s In Concert series at Maida Vale Studios, which has reportedly contributed to his surge in sales.
Speaking in a statement, Porter said: “I’m very grateful for the success of Take Me To The Alley and to have two albums so high in the album chart at the same time shows how much the UK accept and support my music.”
He continued to say that the jazz genre is “definitely having a moment right now”, citing artists such as himself, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Robert Glasper and José James.
Concluding he said, “This new wave of jazz artists are pushing the boundaries of people’s understanding of jazz, making it more accessible for younger fans and bringing it to the attention of new audiences across the globe.”
