Rapper released latest album 'Old' in 2013
Danny Brown has said that stopped work on his new album as he was ahead of schedule and does not want to release a record in the immediate future.
The rapper, who released latest album ‘Old’ in 2013, offered the update on his new music during a Twitter q+a with fans today (April 25).
When quizzed on whether or not his new album is done, Brown tweeted: “Almost, I took a break from it cause I’m so ahead of schedule with it knowing it ain’t coming out no time soon.”
The rapper is currently working on his fourth studio album. His debut, ‘The Hybrid’, was released in 2010, with ‘XXX’ following in 2011 and his third effort, ‘Old’, arriving in 2013. Earlier this year Brown discussed what type of album he is trying to record, saying: “With ‘Old’, I made songs for me to perform at festivals. With this album, instead of me making songs that would fit at a festival, I’m trying to create my own songs to perform at a festival.”

He also spoke about his desire to work with Serj Tankian from System of a Down. “‘Toxicity’ is the number one album right now that’s influencing my new album,” he explained. “The way that the concept and the attitude, the way it was sequenced is one of the biggest things for me. You knew there was a social awareness to it. When you listen to the album ‘Toxicity’, it’s actually talking about drugs. The fucking drug situation in America. And if you look at Danny Brown, my music, the sidekick to all this shit’s been drugs.”
In addition to recording a new album, Brown is also writing a Dr Seuss inspired childrens book.
