Years And Years score their first Number One album with debut ‘Communion’

The electro trio also stay at Number Two in the Official UK Singles Chart and Little Mix hit the top spot with 'Black Magic'

Years And Years have topped this Friday’s (July 17) Official UK Albums Chart with their debut album ‘Communion’.

The record, which features Number One hit single ‘King’, outsold the whole of the Top Five combined in its first week on sale.

It knocked last week’s chart topper – Ed Sheeran‘s ‘x’ into Number Two followed by James Bay’s ‘Chaos And The Calm, which jumped one place to Three.

“We’re so, so, so excited!” the trio told OfficialCharts.com. “Having a Number One album is a dream come true. Thank you EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING, THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF ALL OUR LIVES. Our fans are the best and we are very, very happy today.”

Meanwhile, Years and Years’ hit ‘Shine; has also held on to the Number Two spot for a second week in the Official UK Singles Chart.

Little Mix scored this week’s Number One with ‘Black Magic’, the lead single from the girl group’s forthcoming third album ‘Get Weird’.

They gave this video message after being told the news they were Number One:

Elsewhere, Lost Frequencies’ ‘Are You With Me’ climbs a place to Number Three and Dutch tropical house DJ Sam Feldt is in at Number Four with ‘Show Me Love’.

His re-work of the ’90s club classic out-peaks Robin S’s original, which reached Number Six back in 1993.

Rounding off this week’s Top Five is last week’s first ever Number One on the new Friday slot from David Zowie, ‘House Every Weekend’.

The traditional Sunday slot for the Official Chart Show ended last week (July 5) with Greg James hosting the new show in its new 4pm Friday timeslot on BBC Radio 1.
