Fans will be able to watch all of the action as it happens on via desktop, tablet and mobile on February 26 2014


The NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas will be streamed live for the first time in its history later this week (February 26).

The awards take place on Wednesday February 26 at O2 Academy, Brixton and fans will be able to watch all of the action, including performances from Metronomy, Drenge and Godlike Genius recipients Blondie, online from 8PM at

NME is working with production companies LoveLive and Streaming Tank – who have previously worked with high profile artists such as Rihanna, Blur, Paul McCartney, The Who and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – to deliver a live stream of the awards that will enable fans to enjoy the full ceremony in HD quality on their desktop, tablet or mobile. The awards will also be live streamed via NME’s Twitter and Facebook. Those who miss the awards will be able to catch the highlights on after the event.

Speaking about the live stream plans, editor Greg Cochrane says: “This year we wanted to serve fans with the full digital experience of the NME Awards. The live stream of the ceremony will give fans the kind of access to rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest night that they’ve never had before.”

The NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas will be hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter and NME columnist Huw Stephens. Paul McCartney will also attend the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas to collect the special, one-off honour of NME’s Songwriter’s Songwriter, while Damon Albarn will collect the brand new NME Award For Innovation.

Blondie have been named this year’s Godlike Genius, and the band will collect the award in person and perform at the show. In addition, Belle & Sebastian will receive the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award and will also perform live.

Arctic Monkeys lead the nominations this year with eight in total. Haim follow closely with six nominations while Queens of The Stone Age, Lily Allen and Arcade Fire all have three. Voting has now closed.
