Comedian claims 18,000 people tried to get tickets for Colston Hall gig in December
Comedian Ricky Gervais has confirmed that his gig in Bristol as The Office‘s David Brent sold out instantly, with over 18,000 people trying to get tickets for the show.
Gervais, as Brent, and his backing band Foregone Conclusion will play live at Colston Hall in Bristol on December 16. Shortly after tickets for the gig went on sale this morning (November 1), Gervais took to his Twitter account to post the news that all of the tickets for the show had gone and hinted at a future show at London’s O2 Arena.
18 thousand ticket requests in the first minute of on sale. That’s fucking ridiculous. Oh well, O2 next then 🙂 #Brentsback

Earlier this month, the comedian played two work-in-progress gigs with former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London rattling through tracks like ‘Freelove Freeway’, which previously featured in The Office, ‘Slough’ and ‘Equality Street’ while swigging from a can of Fosters throughout. Tickets for both shows sold out in under a minute and subsequently appeared on a secondary ticketing site for more than £1,000 each.
Brent turned his hand to music in May. Having revived the character for the BBC’s Comic Relief this year, Gervais issued an online series, Learn Guitar With David Brent, which was the character’s first recurring role since The Office concluded in 2003.
