Met Office reports that "rain could cause problems for festival goers"
Music fans attending this weekend’s Bestival bash in the Isle of Wight have been told to expect “occasional heavy rain” over the remainder of the weekend but that some sunshine is also expected.
The four-day event at the island’s ‘s Robin Hill Country Park started last night (September 5) with a performance from MIA.
Friday’s weather is expected to be wet but the Met Office reports a more optimistic outlook across the weekend. It says: “Some heavy showers could cause problems for festival goers on Friday but the weekend is looking pretty decent with some sunshine expected. Night times will be cool but once the day gets underway temperatures will be average for the time of year once the mist has burnt off.”
Bestival continues on Saturday (September 7) and Sunday (September 8), when temperatures will remain cooler with a breezy day of sunny intervals and a few showers on Saturday. Sunday, meanwhile, will be a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers, some of which could be heavy.
This year’s Bestival has a nautical theme and will be headlined by Fatboy Slim (Friday), Snoop Dogg (Saturday) and Elton John (Sunday). Other confirmed acts for the weekend include a UK festival exclusive performance from Bombay Bicycle Club, Franz Ferdinand, Merchandise, Peace, James Blake, The Flaming Lips, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr, The Knife, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware and Angel Haze.
