The 21-year-old's body is discovered in the vehicle after he complained of being ill at the US event
A man who attended the Ultra Music Festival in Miami was found dead in his car on Saturday night (March 29).
Miami New Times reports that 21-year-old Miami resident Adonis Escoto had been at the festival when he began to feel sick and left to recover in his car. When friends returned to him later in the night they found him dead. Escoto’s aunt said that her nephew did not use drugs and believes his drink may have been spiked.
However, Miami Police have not ruled out drugs as the cause of death. “We are still looking into that,” Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa telling NBC Miami at a press conference. “The autopsy is yet to be completed and the toxicology will take probably a few months.”
This death follows security guard Erica Mack ending up in a critical condition in hospital after being trampled by people getting into the festival this weekend. Mack suffered severe brain haemorrhaging and a broken leg after the incident on Friday (March 29) where it is believed that a chainlink fence was pushed down and fell on him.
Ultra Music Festival continued, despite the two incidents. Miami mayor Tomas Regalado has already called for the festival to be cancelled next year, accusing Ultra organisers of “acting irresponsibly” over security and saying he will campaign to make sure those behind the festival are denied permits in the future.
“It’s time to say goodbye,” Regalado told WSVN. “We are bringing a resolution to the City Commission. If approved, the city will deny the permits for next year. We’d rather take quality of life instead of money.”
Dizzee Rascal, MIA, Tiesto, MGMT, Empire Of The Sun, Chase And Status, David Guetta and Afrojack all performed at Ultra this year. Avicii had to pull out of his performance to have his gall bladder removed.
