Huge collaboration will take place this Sunday (January 26)
Spin report that the group performance will close this year’s ceremony, which takes place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center this Sunday (January 26), though it is not yet known what song the musicians will perform together.
All of the artists involved in the performance have a history of collaborating together with Grohl, Trent Reznor, and Josh Homme working together on ‘Mantra’, taken from the Foo Fighters frontman’s Sound City movie. Additionally, Grohl drummed on QOTSA’s 2013 album ‘…Like Clockwork’, while Buckingham appeared on NIN’s ‘Hesitation Marks’.
It was revealed yesterday (January 20) that Beyoncé and Jay Z will both perform at ceremony, with the husband and wife team set to perform a duet of ‘Drunk In Love’ from Beyoncé’s recent self-titled ‘visual album’.
This year’s Grammys will be hosted by LL Cool J, with The Beatles‘ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr scheduled to perform together on the night.
As previously announced, Metallica will play the Grammys with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang. The metal band will be performing at the event for the first time in 23 years, having last played the ceremony in 1991. Lang Lang last performed at the bash in 2008.
Lorde and Katy Perry will also perform. Other acts lined up to appear include Daft Punk, who will perform with Stevie Wonder, Pharrell, and Nile Rodgers and Kendrick Lamar, who will perform with Imagine Dragons. In addition, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves, John Legend and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will play the ceremony.
