Body found in burning bin wagon outside Manchester Apollo

Firefighters tackled the blaze at 5am yesterday morning (September 15)

A body has been found in a burning skip wagon outside music venue O2 Apollo Manchester.

According to the Manchester Evening News, fire crews were called to the incident on Hyde Road at 5am yesterday morning (September 15). After extinguishing the blaze, the body was found in the back of the truck among a large quantity of charred waste. It is not yet known if the body is male or female.

A spokesperson for waste management company Veolia Environmental Services issued the following statement: “We can confirm that at approximately 5am on Monday 15 September, a fire was reported in the rear of one of our commercial vehicles located in a car park on the A57 in Ardwick, Greater Manchester. Both the fire brigade and police attended the scene. We can confirm this matter is now subject to an ongoing police investigation and we cannot comment further.”

The next band due to appear at the iconic venue are Alt-J, who play on Friday (September 19) and Saturday.
