Harkive to track listening habits across the world today

The project is attempting to build a music archive online

The Harkive project is attempting to build an archive of contemporary music tastes and listening habits online, after launching last year. It will track listening habits across the world today (July 15).

Harkive will gather stories from “music fans across the globe in order to create a unique snapshot of the many listening cultures, habits and practices that exist on that day,” says Craig Hamilton who has founded the project.

People can contribute to Harkive via Twitter or Facebook, submitting information about what music they are listening to today. “These will be added to the responses gathered in 2013, and my hope is that the results of my analysis into the responses to various instances of Harkive develop into a useful, informative and interesting resource for anyone interested in popular music,” says Hamilton. “In order for this to happen, I need your help: I’d like you to tell me your story.”
