‘At least 16 dead’ in South Korea gig disaster

The incident occurred at a show in Seongnam by Korean girl group 4Minute

An tragic accident at a pop concert in Seongnam, South Korea has left numerous gig-goers dead and many injured.

The incident occurred at an outdoor show at Pangyo Techno Valley by Korean girl group 4Minute in the city south of Seoul. The accident is said to have taken place at 5.53 pm local time.

The death toll is currently varying in reports, but BBC News state that “at least 16 people” have died. A further 11 people are thought to be injured from the collapse.

Reports claim that a ventilation grate gave way when 20 to 30 people climbed onto it to get a better view of the show. The group then fell 20 metres (65ft) into an underground parking area below.

4Minute formed back in 2009 and have grown to be one of the country’s highest selling acts since. 700 people are reported to have been in attendance at this particular show.
