Thousands attended the party in a former Royal Mail delivery office
At least two people were arrested at an illegal rave in East Croydon last night (June 14).
Thousands attended the party in a former Royal Mail delivery office, with “extensive damage” caused to the building, according to a report from the Croydon Advertiser. Missiles were reportedly thrown at police who tried to shut the rave down, including fire extinguishers and furniture.
The two arrests were for ‘disorder offences’. Speaking about those behind the party and the damage, Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell commented, saying the people should “feel the full force of the law”.
Extra police were called in from around London at 11pm last night, but officers decided to let the rave carry on as to avoid causing further trouble. Croydon dubstep artist Skream tweeted about the rave, though overestimated the size of the crowd, writing:
Apparently there’s a squat rave taking place at The Post office at east Croydon station! 20,000 people apparently!!! SICK!
