The gates to the Burning Man festival in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, are to open after severe weather saw the event’s start delayed.
The site for the week-long community and arts festival, which has run since 1986, was waterlogged according to a report from Resident Advisor, and roads to the area were closed down by local police, with festival attendees being turned away and re-directed to alternative campsites.
However, the festival has now tweeted that the site will re-open today (August 26).
Burning Man and the roads leading to it reopen 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The festival runs until September 1 and works on a gift, rather than cash based, economy. This year’s theme is ‘Caravansary’. Burning Man is streaming live at UStream.
