Midweek chart update: Morrissey just behind Ed Sheeran in race for Number One

New album 'World Peace Is None Of Your Business' is only a few thousand sales behind Sheeran's 'X'

Morrissey is battling Ed Sheeran in the race for this week’s Number One on the Official UK Albums Chart with just a few thousand sales keeping the former Smiths singer off the top spot.

‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’, Morrissey’s 10th solo album, was released on Monday (July 14) and at today’s midweek stage is at Number Two, 6,000 sales behind Sheeran’s current album ‘X’. The final chart placings will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday (July 20).

Elsewhere in the Official Album Chart, Jungle are new at Number Five with their self-titled debut album. Judas Priest, meanwhile, look set to score their highest charting UK album in 34 years with ‘Redeemer Of Souls’ new at Number Eight.

Other new entries in the Official Album Chart this week are due from Rise Against (9), Jason Mraz (12) and Slow Club (32).

Meanwhile, the Number One spot on the Official Singles Chart looks set to go to Rixton with their single ‘Me And My Broken Heart’. The boy band are managed by Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun and feature Jake Roche, son of EastEnders actor Shane Richie and Coleen Nolan, among their ranks.

Further new entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart at the midweek stage come from Ella Eyre (8), Kove (17) and Raleigh Ritchie (40).
