Gerard Way to play first solo shows at Reading and Leeds Festivals

Former My Chemical Romance frontman leads latest line-up additions

Gerard Way will play his first ever solo shows at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The former My Chemical Romance frontman leads the latest raft of line-up additions to the festival and will appear on the NME/Radio 1 Stage alongside fellow new additions, Schoolboy Q, Maverick Sabre, DZ Deathrays and La Dispute.

Earlier this year Way launched his own official website, Gerardway.com, with a blog post confirming that he has inked a deal with Warner Bros Records and that he is close to finishing a solo album.

Meanwhile, other new additions to the line up for Reading & Leeds this year include a whole host of bands set to join headliners Palma Violets, Band Of Skulls and Augustines on the Festival Republic Stage.

King Charles, Southern, We Are Scientists, The Amazing Snakeheads, American Authors, Little Matador, The Minutes, Leaders Of Men, The Sunshine Underground, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Sivu, Drowners, Lucius and Saint Raymond have all joined the line-up.

Elsewhere, Sigma, Indiana, RÜFÜS, Panama, Kove, MØ, Lxury and Billion join the Radio 1 Dance Tent while We Came As Romans, Crosses, Muncie Girls, Brutality Will Prevail, Lesser Key, The HELL, Beasts, Masked Intruder, Emily’s Army and Vales will all perform at The Pit (formerly The Lock Up Stage).

The BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage also has new names with MistaJam, Raleigh Ritchie, Dirty Dike, Edward Scissortongue, Dominique Young Unique, Tempa T, Little Simz, Newham Generals, Adian Coker, Kwabs, Elli Ingram, Hawk House and My Nu Leng joining headliners Giggs, Pusha T, Danny Brown and Joey Bada$$.

Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182 will headline Reading and Leeds Festivals 2014. It will be both Queens of The Stone Age and Paramore’s only UK festival appearances of the summer.
