Much loved actor was found dead at home yesterday, aged 63

Musicians from around the world have shared their grief at the news that Robin Williams has died.

As reported, the actor died aged 63 from an apparent suicide. The Oscar-winning star of Good Will Hunting was found dead at his California home on Monday morning (August 11).

A statement made by the assistant chief deputy coroner of Marin County revealed the cause of death to be “suicide due to asphyxia” and advised “a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made”.

Confirming the news in a statement, Williams’ publicist said: “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

Among those to react to his passing were members of The Beatles, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine as well as pop stars such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles of One Direction.
