Figures from music world turn out to pay tribute to 25-year-old journalist and socialite

Musicians including Jools Holland and former Rolling Stones member Bill Wyman attended the funeral of Peaches Geldof yesterday (April 21).

A service for the 25-year-old journalist and socialite was held at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in the village of Davington, Kent, where Bob Geldof led the tributes. Peaches’s ashes were believed to have then been scattered at Bob Geldof’s Davington Priory country estate.

It is the same church where Peaches married husband Thomas Cohen in September 2012 and where the funeral for her mother, Paula Yates, was held in 2000.

The Telegraph reports that Geldof, mother to Astala Geldof–Cohen (aged one) and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen (11 months old), was buried in a sky blue coffin with images of her family and pet dogs painted on the side.

Other guests in attendance for the ceremony were Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, Spector frontman Fred Macpherson, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, Eliza Doolittle, Sarah, Duchess of York, Alan McGee, Alexa Chung and Mariella Frostrup.

Peaches Geldof was found dead at her home in Wrotham, Kent on two weeks ago (April 7). Police said at the time that her death was being treated as “non-suspicious but unexplained and sudden”.

A post-mortem carried out following Geldof’s death proved inconclusive, pending toxicology tests. The tests could take weeks to come through.
