T In The Park to move to new site in 2015

Festival will take place at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire

Next year’s T In The Park will take place at Strathallan Castle as the festival leaves Balado, Kinross for the first time since 1997.

The festival will remain in Scotland in 2015 with a new permanent home near Gleneagles officially announced by organisers today (June 25). Strathallan Castle is located 18 miles from the Balado site and can be found near Auchterarder in Perthshire.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts – who stage T In The Park – says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce Strathallan Castle as our new home. We’ve had 18 tremendous years at Balado but now we’re moving on to pastures new – this time with a castle overlooking the site!”

He continued: “We already loved Strathallan Castle and had been hoping to host an event there for many years. When it became clear we’d need to leave Balado to safeguard the future of the festival, we became very excited about the prospect of Strathallan becoming the new home for T in the Park. We thought it would be perfect and it is.”

“Like Balado, it’s right in the heart of Scotland and is easy to locate. The landscape is stunning and it has a fantastic natural amphitheatre which will lend itself beautifully for the main stage. It will truly be one of the most beautiful festival sites in the UK. More news about 2015 will be revealed soon, but before then, we look forward to welcoming everyone this July for the very last party in Kinross. We’ll make sure Balado gets the spectacular send-off it deserves.”

T In The Park first took place in 1994 at Strathclyde Country Park near Motherwell before moving sites three years later. The move to Strathallan Castle comes following safety concerns about the Forties North Sea oil pipeline, which runs over part of the Balado site.

Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro and Arctic Monkeys headline T In The Park 2014, which takes place from July 11-13 in Balado, Scotland. Other acts playing across the weekend include Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Pixies, Haim, You Me At Six, Manic Street Preachers, Chvrches, Maximo Park, Pharrell Williams, Elbow, Rudimental, Bombay Bicycle Club, Metronomy, Jake Bugg, Disclosure, Tinie Tempah, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Tame Impala, Kodaline and Chance The Rapper.
