US producer will appear at the July 5 opening party for 'Le Grand Bazaar' at Ushuaïa
Pete Tong has announced that Pharrell Williams will join him in Ibiza next month (July) for the launch of his new weekly club night.
Williams, who has contributed to two of this year’s biggest hit singles, Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke, will join Tong for the first night of ‘Le Grand Bazaar’ at Ushuaïa on July 5. The club has been decorated with artwork by Damien Hirst and Pharrell will perform on the night alongside DJ sets from Nervo and Ibiza resident Tato.
Speaking about Pharrell and his new club night, Pete Tong said: “When I started thinking about the ‘Le Grand Bazaar’ concept I was inspired by Ushuaia – the best new club in Ibiza. I’m looking forward to making Fridays completely unique, bringing daytime clubbing back to the island with an incredible line-up of underground and global names. From lunchtime at the beach BBQ, until midnight on the main stage, we are planning to give everyone a unique and thrilling experience. The legendary Pharrell Williams will make his first ever appearance in Ibiza at our opening party. It’s going to be crazy!”
Earlier this week, Pharrell was quoted as saying that Daft Punk’s new album ‘Random Access Memories’ will “change mankind”. Pharrell appears on the album’s unavoidable lead single ‘Get Lucky’ and another track called ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’ and admitted he “learned a lot” from working with the mysterious French duo.
‘Random Access Memories’ was released on May 17 and debuted at Number One in 22 countries worldwide including the UK and US.
