Olympic gold-winning cyclist talks us through his favourite tracks
Olympic gold medal winning cyclist and Mod extraordinaire Bradley Wiggins has revealed his top tracks in a playlist for NME.
Included on the list, which you can read in full on NME/com/blog, is Paul Weller’s ‘Whirlpool’s End’, The Who’s ‘Heatwave’ and The Jam’s ‘In The City’
Speaking about The Smith’s ‘Headmaster Ritual’ he said: “This tune reminds me of being at primary school, listening to the Smiths and early Weller.”
Another Weller track on the playlist includes ‘Stanley Road’. “I’ve been listening to ‘Stanley Road’ a lot lately,” he says. “I hadn’t for a while so you end up going in circles and revisiting stuff a lot. But no particular tracks, I’ve just been listening to it as a whole really.”
On Wednesday, Wiggins became the most successful British Olympic athlete ever in terms of medals won. The 32 year-old won his fourth gold medal at the men’s cycling time trial and seventh Olympic medal in total.
Earlier this year, he became the first Briton to win the Tour de France – the world’s most gruelling cycling road race.
