The huge gig, which will see a host of artists including Plan B perform, will raise money for the charity set up in the murdered teenager's name
Nick Grimshaw and Reggie Yates have been confirmed to host this month’s (September) Stephen Lawrence tribute concert in London.
Plan B, Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Emeli Sandé are just some of the names lined up for a huge gig to take place in London to mark 20 years since the murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence.
The concert will take place at London’s O2 Arena on September 29 and will raise funds for The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which aims to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. All the artists will perform tracks specially chosen for their social message.
Speaking about the event, Reggie Yates said: “To be involved in this event is a real honour to mark the amazing work that Doreen Lawrence and the charity have been doing in Stephen’s name. Doreen proves that one person can make a big difference and this is a great way of reminding us all that we are all part of a multicultural society and we are all racially equal.”
His co-host, Nick Grimshaw, added: “I’m really honoured to have been asked to be involved in such a worthwhile event and really looking forward to the evening.”
Other artists already lined up to appear include Rizzle Kicks, Labrinth, Jamie Cullum, Ed Sheeran and Soul II Soul. More guests will be announced in the coming weeks.
