Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E to be revived as holograms at Rock the Bells festival

Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator also Danny Brown set to appear at California event

Holograms of rappers Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E are set to appear at this year’s Rock The Bells festival.

Virtual versions of the two rappers will perform hits from their back catalogue to audiences when the touring festival kicks off in September. Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s hologram will appear alongside his former group Wu Tang Clan while former NWA member Eazy-E will make a guest spot during Bone Thugs-n-Harmony‘s set when they perform their collaboration ‘Foe The Love of $’.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard died after suffering a drugs overdose in 2004, while Eazy-E passed away after contracting an Aids-related illness in 1995.

Rock The Bells decision to use holograms follows the 2012 Coachella festival, which saw Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg use a hologram of 2Pac during their headline set.

Rock The Bells is a travelling festival and kicks off in California on September 7. Odd Future rappers Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, The Creator will appear alongside Danny Brown, Black Hippy, Juicy J, Curren$y, Big KRIT, Flatbush Zombies, Common, Hit-Boy, E-40 and Too $hort, Kid Cudi, Talib Kweli, Jurassic 5 and Brother Ali.
