Former child star found dead at Atlanta home on Wednesday (May 1)

Former Kriss Kross rapper Chris Kelly, died after taking cocaine and heroin, according to reports.

The former member of ’90s rap duo Kriss Kross was found dead at home aged 34 on Wednesday (May 1). A police report obtained by TMZ claims that Kelly’s mother, Donna Kelly Pratt, had informed police that her son had taken a combination of cocaine and heroin shortly before his death on Tuesday night. Pratt is then reported to have taken her son back to his Atlanta home to recover from the drugs before calling paramedics the next day. The rapper’s mother reportedly told police that Kelly had an “extensive history of drug use.”

Following the news of Kelly’s death, officials said that he had been found “unresponsive” at his home in Atlanta on Wednesday night (May 1) and transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. There was no official confirmation of the cause of death.

Kris Kross – who were famous for wearing their clothes backwards – was made up of Kelly, aka ‘Mac Daddy’, and Chris ‘Daddy Mac’ Smith. Their biggest hit was their 1992 album ‘Totally Krossed Out’ and the multi-million selling single ‘Jump’. The duo last performed in February to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label that signed them. The duo were just 13 years old when they were discovered in a shopping mall in Atlanta.
