Avicii‘s ‘Wake Me Up’ holds on to the Official UK Singles Chart top spot for a third consecutive week.
The Swedish DJ/producer scored the fastest-selling single of 2013 so far when the song bagged 267,000 sales during its first week of release. Since then, it has clocked over 120,000 copies a week and has now sold over 545,000 units, reports the Official Charts Company .
John Newman’s ‘Love Me Again’ climbs two places to Number Two, ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke remains at Number Three, while Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness is at Number Four. One Direction complete this week’s Top 5 with ‘Best Song Ever’, which is down three places.
Elsewhere, London-based singer Eliza Doolittle claims this week’s highest new entry with her track ‘Big When I Was Little’ debuting in at Number 12. Alunageorge score their third Top 40 hit with ‘You Know You Like It’ entering in at Number 39.
In the Official UK Album Chart, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Richard And Adam are this week’s Number One with their debut album ‘ The Impossible Dream’. The Welsh brothers knocked X Factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas’s ‘Love Never Fails’ down to Number Two.
Passenger’s ‘All The Little Lights’ is up one place to Number Three, Jay-Z‘s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ is at Number Four and Rod Stewart’s ‘Time’ completes this week’s Official UK Album Chart Top 5.
Meanwhile, Scouting For Girls are new in at Number Eight with their ‘Greatest Hits’ collection. AlunaGeorge make their Official Album Chart debut with their album ‘Body Music’ entering in at Number 11, while the Backstreet Boys bag their ninth UK Top 40 album with ‘In A World Like This’ (16).
