Melvin Benn hints that bill-toppers are already locked in for 2012
Next year’s Reading And Leeds Festivals will have “terrific” headliners, according to the event’s chief.
Melvin Benn, managing director at organiser Festival Republic, told BBC Newsbeat that he’s already locked in some “very exciting” bookings for 2012.
I couldn’t be happier overall with where we’re going with all the festivals.
Benn added that he’s also pleased with the progress of the line-up for next year’s Latitude, commenting: “I’ve just had a brilliant conversation about an act I was desperate to play Latitude and now I’m pretty sure will play Latitude.”
Last year’s Reading And Leeds Festivals were headlined by Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp. The likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Interpol, Elbow, 30 Seconds To Mars and Beady Eye also appeared across the weekend.
Muse ended up topping NME‘s poll to find the best performance at the festival after more than 800,000 votes were cast. Their slots saw them perform tracks from their 2001 album ‘Origin Of Symmetry’.
Reading And Leeds Festival will be held on August 24-26 2012.
