Singer passes away after complications from hip surgery
US singing legend Eddie Fisher has died aged 82, his family announced today (September 24).
The US singer, who was also married to Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor and singer Debbie Reynolds during his life, died at his home, in Berkeley, California, after complications from hip surgery, reports BBC News.
Fisher‘s songs included his 1950 hits ‘Thinking Of You’, ‘Any Time’ and ‘Oh, My Pa-pa’.
He was a teen idol in the 1950s with dozens of Top 40 hits and his own television show. He was also the father of actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the first three Star Wars movies.
His family said in a statement: “The world has lost a true America icon. One of the greatest voices of the century passed away.”
