Up to 20 firefighters were called to put out the fire, and no one was injured

A fire broke out at London’s O2 Academy Brixton venue on Friday night (December 23) at 3.53am, a representative from the Lambeth London Fire Brigade told NME.

The cause of the fire at the three-storey music venue is still unknown at this time, but BBC News writes that up to 20 firefighters were called to the scene to put out the blaze.

The Lambeth London Fire Brigade said that the “whole of the bar area, making up to 10 per cent of the auditorium was damaged by fire.” Fortunately, no one was injured. The fire was reportedly under control by 5.30am.

The venue is scheduled to host a New Year’s Eve event on December 31, featuring live music appearances from Lock N’ Load, Ferry Corsten, Dash Berlin, Judge Jules, Richard Durand, Marcel Woods and Sied van Riel.
