Jamaican pop star hospitalized in Miami after colliding with bridge

Pop singer Sean Kingston has been hospitalized in Miami and is reported to be in a “critical condition” after a jet skiing accident in which he collided with one of the city’s bridges.

The 21 year-old, along with one other female passenger, was rushed to hospital last night (May 29) after crashing into a bridge at 6pm local time (11pm BST), according to US gossip website TMZ.com.

Reports suggest that police have already ruled out alcohol playing a role in the accident, with details of what happened have been yet to be formally released. A spokesperson for the singer said of the incident: “Sean Kingston was in an accident today. No further details are available at the moment. He and his family thank everyone for the well-wishes.”

Rapper Nicki Minaj is among those to have offered their support to Kingston. She wrote on her Twitter page Twitter.com/nickiminaj: “My love and prayers are with Sean Kingston and his family.”

The singer had a UK Number One single in 2007 with his track ‘Beautiful Girls’ and was most recently featured duetting with Justin Bieber on his hit single ‘Eenie Meanie’.
