Band's guitarist died of a brain haemorrhage earlier this week

This Many Boyfriends guitarist Peter Sykes has passed away.

Sykes, who played rhythm guitar and sang in the band, died on Tuesday (September 27) this week as a result of a brain haemorrhage, the band have confirmed.

The band have issued a statement, which reads as follows: “Our best friend and guitarist Peter Sykes sadly passed away on Tuesday morning. We are all extremely shocked and saddened at the loss of a truly wonderful human being.”

It continues: “We really can’t process everything right now as it has been a tremendous shock. We were so very lucky to have even met such a great man and to have shared a stage with him has been a huge pleasure. He was our dear friend and we will miss him. All our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”

The band were due to tour next month, but have said that all their commitments have been put on hold for the time being.
