‘Glee’ cast’s version of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ set for chart smash?

E4 show song set for high entry on Sunday (Jan 17)

The cast of new E4 TV show Glee‘s version of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin” looks set to make a surprise entry into the Top Ten of the UK singles chart on Sunday (January 17).

According to the Official Charts Company since the song was broadcast on Monday (January 11) sales suggest a high entry this weekend – with further songs from the show, including the cast’s cover of Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Rehab’, also set to chart.

A similar feat was achieved last year, when the new version of ‘Don’t Stop Believin” entered the US charts at Number Four following the episode it was featured in being broadcast.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot told Music Week: “There is no doubting the impact that Glee is going to have on the chart this week, and possibly over the coming weeks. Glee is a new cultural phenomenon – and the music charts are reflecting this, just as they did in the US last year.”

The original 1981 version of the song is currently residing in the UK Top Ten at Number Six.
