England rugby player Andrew Sheridan releases album

Injured World Cup star swaps props for pop

England rugby star Andrew Sheridan may have been sent home from the World Cup because of a recurring shoulder injury, but he might already have a second career lined up.

The Sale forward has produced a 16-track album, ‘Where We Go From Here’, available on iTunes.

The massive prop said:

Over the past 10 years I have amassed a reasonable collection of songs. At times I was tempted to sit and make them musically perfect but we stuck with the real instruments and live feel on the album. We have tried to keep the songs simple and relaxed.

Sheridan, known as ‘Big Ted’, was given a guitar for his 21st birthday, and was encouraged to record some of the songs he’d written by his wife when he was injured during the 2009 season.

It’s thought the 31-year-old will have to retire due to a fourth shoulder operation in two years.

He’s not the only England star with musical pedigree. Fellow prop Matt Stevens is best known to some for finishing runner-up to EastEnder Lucy Benjamin in 2006’s X Factor: Battle Of The Stars.

He was mentored by Sharon Osbourne and raised £125,000 for charity back in his native South Africa.
